Mountains in Stars was born in Brooklyn in the early 00's but now lives in Austin, Texas. MiS was founded by Barry Stone (johnboy, Porch Swing Orchestra) who writes, sings, and plays guitar along with Emily Scarlet Kramer who sings and plays fiddle and Bob Warner (Burn Version) who plays banjo, guitar, and slide.

The group stopped playing when I got a full-time job and moved back to Texas. Since then Emily has moved to the West Coast while Bob remains in NYC.

Back in Brooklyn in 2007, faced with my sudden departure to Texas, we rushed into a new studio to record an album's worth of songs. There were some technical and performance (mine) that got in the way of its release until now.

Over the years my frequent musical collaborator, Paul Stautinger worked some audio magic and rerecorded some of my guitar parts, and vocals, Em also recorded additional vocal parts too.

It's finally in shape and now, and thanks to receiving a grant from the City of Austin Cultural Arts Divsion, we will be able to press a record, called "Watch the Years Gather" to be released in 2024!!

The record will be accompanied by a small book of photographs taken by my great grandfather, CHARLES WOOD in and around Red Lodge, Montana in the 1920s. I have a bunch of small prints that I recovered from a fire that engulfed my grandfather's trailer in Magnolia, Texas and over 1200 negatives are housed @carbon_county_museum_rl in Red Lodge which were donated by my great uncle Bob Wood.

The images come from my collection and scans from the CHARLES WOOD Collection of the Carbon County Historical Society and Museum. Many thanks to director Patty Molinaro for her support of this project.

This record is made possibly in part by a LIVE MUSIC GRANT from the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin's Economic Development Department.
